2012's X Factor was the first time there have been two prominent competing boy bands, Union J and District3. Dividing the judges week on week both groups have developed a strong fan base with young girls across the country. However, when both groups found themselves in the bottom two in week 6. Mentor Louis Walsh refused to vote and Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger both voted to save Union J, meaning that despite Tulisa opting to save District 3 it was not enough to keep them in the competition.
